INSECTS.TIL
Mahjongg tile set by Terry Nuhn
The following tile set consists of common insects found in North
America. Many were drawn from actual specimens in my personal collection.
I have tried to make them as accurate as possible within the limits of the
tile size. They are not drawn to scale; in fact, most are much larger than
they appear on the tiles. They are arranged in suits according to their
taxonomic classification: Tiles 1-9 = Coleoptera (beetles), tiles 11-19 =
Lepidoptera (butterflies and moths), tiles 21-29 = Hemiptera (including
Heteroptera: true bugs, and Homoptera: cicadas, hoppers, aphids, etc.),
tiles 31-34 = Hymenoptera (bees, wasps and ants), tile 10 = Odonata (dragon-
flies), tile 20 = Dermaptera (earwigs), tile 30 = Orthoptera (grasshoppers
crickets and katydids), wild card tiles 35-38 = larvae of butterflies and
moths, and wild card tiles 39-42 = entomology equipment. The identity of
