CodeMaster Version 1.0
Copyright(C) ChillyBytes Software, South Bend, Indiana 1990.
Written by Larry Ice - All Rights Reserved.
I love to write software. I mean, really LOVE to write software. I enjoy it
so much that I went to the trouble of acquiring a B.S. in Computer Science
when I already had a B.S. in Engineering. I figured, correctly, that this
degree would help me secure a job as a Software Engineer.
Everything went according to plan, but I have a problem. Nobody ever gets
to see the stuff that I do. All of my work gets locked up in a little box
attached to a machine, which is part of a larger machine. Nobody gives my work
a second thought because everything works as expected.
I wanted people to SEE my stuff. So I started writing CodeMaster on my PC
at home. And I honed it, and refined it, and incrementally improved it, until
I was ready to show it to someone. They loved it, and it was a great feeling.
So I submitted it to this monthly software collection publisher and waited.
And waited. And waited. And was rejected.
Now let's be honest. This game is not the greatest. It doesn't work on
monochrome monitors and the music could be better. But I still believe that it
is one Hell of a start. My problem right now is motivation. I've got a lot of
ideas for improvements (Monochrome video support, mouse support, two-player
mode, etc.), but I've been to the well too many times.
This all leads to my proposal. Let's see if shareware is still alive. You
are granted the license to freely distribute and copy Codemaster. If you would
like to become a registered user, send me $20. If just 100 people become reg-
istered users, I will make ALL of the improvements I previously mentioned (AND
a Race-The-Clock mode that I didn't mention), and mail a copy of the improved
game to all registered users.
So if you want to register and get me to finish the job, please send check
or money order to;

Schools and educational institutions of any kind are granted a free license
to copy and distribute this game freely to students, staff, and faculty. With
proper direction, this game is an excellent teaching tool for analytical
thinking and the use of deductive and inductive logic to solve problems.
