Murder Motel Robot Utility
written by Duane Brown
Version 1.0
This program performs a specific duty for the Murder Motel door,
versiions 2.0 through 2.2, written by Sheldon Pasciak. It allows the
sysop to automatically maintain and run a force of dummy Murder Motel
players that act as victims. If you have avid Murder Motel players,
this program will let you supply ample victims to them for the picking.
Installation
============
Installation is easy. Copy the Robot.exe file, along with the robot.lst
sample control file, to your Murder Motel directory. The format of the
robot.lst file is as follows (don't type in the comments in { } )
50 { Number of moves that the robot players make }
WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE { A list of two word names, upper or lower case }
THE TERMINATOR
JOHN HINKLEY
CAPTAIN KIRK
RANDOM WANDERER
GENGHIS KHAN
JACK_THE RIPPER
COLONEL GREENE
INVISBLE MAN
This list of names can contain up to 10 two word names. They may be in
upper or lower case, as they will be converted to upper case so that the
Murder Motel Door can recognize them. If any of these names in this
file are not current players, then the names will be added to the data
file.
This program must reside in the Murder Motel directory, as it reads in
the following files:
MURDER.MAP
PEOPLE.MMI
OBJECTS.MMI
Setting it Up
=============
This program should be run as part of the daily maintenance. As stated
before, first change to the Murder Motel directory and run
Robot robot.lst
That is all that is needed. I urge that you make copies of your
PEOPLE.MMI and OBJECTS.MMI files before this program is run, even though
the original files are renamed to .bak extensions. I made my best
attempts to protect the data, but unexpected events may cause unforeseen
problems.
