PROJECT: ZXACUS
-----------------
By: Andrew Barter Requirements: IBM PC or greater
Microsoft Flight Sim. 4
Aircraft & Scenery Designer
FS4 Requirements: 40960 bytes Static Scenery
20480 bytes Dynamic Scenery
20 Dynamic objects active
This is a project I was working on just to learn how to use the
Aircraft and Scenery Designer (A&SD) along with the Scenery Enhancement
Editor (SEE4) from Mallard Software. I think you will enjoy this scenery.
The scenery is completely original, i.e. I let my mind wander. Well, when
you let a Newfie's mind wander this is what you get.
The scenery covers an area of about 20km by 10km on the west coast
of the USA. If you've downloaded MACAU.ZIP, this file will be an addition
to it. It is about 10 km south of Macau in the state of Washington, so you
can fly from Seattle if you want to.
The scenery has to be explored. I can't really describe it well in
words, so go ahead and fly. The major airports have .MOD files so you can
start there. Perhaps the best it ZXA1. It is an international airport
with three runways and lots of scenery around it. The next best is ZXA3.
Fly to the coast and check out the waterfront or land at the airport where
you'll see a new runway under construction. If you like adventures fly to
ZXA4 and fly through the canyons in the Learjet...what a rush !!!
There are VORS as well: ZXA1 - 117.10, ZXA2 - 115.10, ZXA3 - 111.55,
ZXA4 - 114.70. ZXA1 International has ILS's as well: RWY07/110.20,
RWY25/110.25, RWY34R/110.50, RWY16R/110.60. Note that although I can't stop
you, there is no landing/departing on runways 16L or 34L because of the
locations of buildings.
You may notice some nice effects including the red and white buildings
at the end of the runways in ZXA1, and the CN Tower type building in ZXA2.
Also, note the double-decker circus in ZXA1, plus if you fly low enough in
ZXA2 you will see cabins on the lake.
BUGS: The scenery changing is not really smooth when leaving or
entering ZXA1. I've tried everything, but can't seem to get
it smooth so you may have to load it manually.
That's it !!! (I think...)
Hope you enjoy it. If you have any comments or questions, please
feel free to leave me a message on Canada Remote or Flight 642. Oh by
the way, the ZXMAST1 file contains the mountains and lakes so if you want to
expand, go ahead.
Look for my next project to be out around Xmas where I will do
original scenery in an area of Canada as was suggested to me by the sysop
of Flight 642.
Take Care,
Andrew Barter
