  1. Operation Slider
  2.  
  3. The P38 was pressed into the ground attack
  4. role in the last few years of the war. It
  5. was occassionally called on to perform
  6. small bombing attacks on select targets in
  7. enemy territory.
  8.  
  9.                 Mission Orders
  10.  
  11. You and your wingman will be escorting a 
  12. small group of P-38Hs loaded with long 
  13. range tanks and two 1000 lb. bombs. Their
  14. intended target it the Gottingen Research
  15. Site. You and your wingman will also be
  16. flying P-38H models as their escort.
  17.  
  18. The mission has been scheduled for late in
  19. the day to assist your chances of getting
  20. through. However this may also work against
  21. you and make spotting marauding enemy 
  22. fighters harder to spot.
  23.  
  24. Enemy tactics have changed recently. Enemy
  25. interception techniques now involve ignoring
  26. the primary target, which is the bomber 
  27. group, and for them to go after the fighter
  28. escort first. This is especially true if the
  29. escort happens to be the easily spotted 
  30. P-38.
  31.  
  32. Be on your toes and prepare to defend 
  33. yourself from enemy fighters and don't get
  34. too far away from the bomber group or they
  35. may be chopped to pieces.
