Okay, okay.. this is kinda lame but I threw a simple database browser together
for a friend and he loved it. Anyways, this is a VERY beta copy of a large AD&D
utility program (forgive me if it crashes from time to time) that will allow
you to add/edit/create monsters, players, etc.. by the truckloads..
I've got 100 or so already in there for you to play with, so have fun.
The main system (DNDBASE.EXE) will be HUGE! (When finally done)
Here are some of the features:
- Full Character Editor/Generator
Up to date info on all new races, classes and whatnot... fully automatic with
manual override for those oh so special enhancements.
- Adventure Editor/Generator
What? Actually a compter version of an adventure cookbook. Allows for fast
creation of adventure modules (accesses the monsters and players you already
have in the system) for getting up and running. Prints out full maps (still
working on this) to over 200 printers, lets you go in and do some really EASY
editing on the maps (sortof like a shareware version of a scaled down AutoCAD)
and allows you to use INSTO-FILL.. randomly takes treasure, gold, etc. you
specify (or let the program do it for you!) and scatters it throught your
maps... full players and dm's notes, sheets, etc...
- Adventure Monitor System
AMS.. the heart of DNDBASE. Lets you run a full module (one you create, modify
or whatever) within the program! You run it from your computer (sortof an
electronic DM screen) and send your players off to wilds unknown... Great
stuff!
Within the AMS is a fully random die roller, timing monitors (lets you keep
track of your players movements), access to the player characters for
updating during events (actually, you can set AMS to do most of the updating
for you, saves on having to write out all those formulas and keep track of
your stats) and much more...
Because the system is all in one, you simply go in, add your party (or create
them), put together a module, fill it with goodies and voila.. a complete
adventure that even a child can use... (did I say child?)
Anyways, that's an overview.. it's due out in mid July, but I've been working on
a few things and am getting a little behind so it might not make it out until
the end of July or August.. The mapping capablities may not be complete by then.
It will be available on as many systems as I can upload it to (don't even ask me
what my phone bill is like) but you can obtain pre-release beta copies by
contacting me now at the address below.
P.S. Please forgive the shoddiness of this document, I've been coding for over
12 hours and my brain hurts...
