  1. Wave Manager Installation

  4. (This program requires VBRUN300.DLL, which is NOT included.)

  6. Make a directory for WAVMAN.
  7.  
  8. Put WAVMAN.EXE, WAVMAN.DLL, HSLINFO.WRI, and HSLCAT.WRI in the 
  9. WAVMAN directory.
  10.  
  11. Put WAVTHING.DLL, THREED.VBX, and VBRUN300.DLL (not included) in 
  12. your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory.  Note:  Even if you already have 
  13. THREED.VBX, please use the one included here - its the latest 
  14. update (as of 10/10/93) directly from Sheridan.

  16. If your sound card (and driver) supports Microsoft's ADPCM Wave 
  17. format, you can run WAVMAN.EXE (or your own player) and began 
  18. playing the sounds "as is".  
  19.  
  20. HOWEVER, MOST SOUND CARDS DO NOT DIRECTLY SUPPORT ADPCM.  For 
  21. those cards you'll have to use WAVMAN to convert the ADPCM files 
  22. to "normal" PCM wave files.

  24. To convert the files using WAVMAN, click on the file that you 
  25. want to covert (hold down the CTRL key while clicking to select 
  26. multiple files).  After selecting the files, click on the 
  27. "Convert to PCM" button".  You will then be able to choose to 
  28. convert the files to 8 bit or 16 bit quality, and browse 
  29. directories to choose the destination directory for the 
  30. converted files.

  32. NOTE:  We normally supply 44k stereo files, but these require 
  33. conversion or "downgrading" to work with low end sound cards, 
  34. like the Sound Blaster. To keeps things nice and simple for this 
  35. demo, the sample files are 22k mono, except for two files that 
  36. are 22k stereo.
