SHAREWARE
WInFile is Shareware and a lot of time and effort was invested
in developing it. If you are going to use it, it is only fair
to reimburse the author for the effort.
The price is modest at $15.00 and if you like the program, are
tired of the shareware screen coming up every time you run
WinFile and generally are a fair person, please send a check
or money order for $15.00 to:
RANK Enterprises, Inc.
1202 Hillside Blvd.
Wilmington, DE 19803-4212
In return you will receive a diskette (3.5" or 5 1/4" - your choice)
with the latest version of WinFile without the Shareware screen.
WinFile is being improved all the time. Version 1.1 is in the works
with improvements in security and ability to change file attributes.
We anticipate Version 2.00 to have and integrated Fax sending module.
INSTALLATION
Copy the FILEWIN.EXE file to any directory you like. You can run it
from this directory using the Program Manager's File Run menu option
and using the Properties option you can install the WinFile icon in
any Group you wish.
When run for the first time WinFile will create its own INI file, which
will reside in the same directory as the EXE file.
HOW TO
WinFile always has two windows (Frames) open on your file system. The active
Frame is the one in which files can be selected and acted upon. If you
Copy or Move files they will be copied or moved to the inactive Frame. If
the same drive and directories are chosen for both frames, the Copy function
will ask you for a different name and will copy the file to a new one in
the same directory.
To manipulate Directories chose the Directories option on the main menu by
either clicking on it or pressing the Alt key and then the D key (after
releasing Alt). To go back to the Files option choose it from the menu.
WinFile allows the user to select the default file viewer and editor. The
default is the Windows Notepad which is used as both the editor and viewer.
To chose different programs chose the Setup option on the menu and follow
the instructions.
When a file is selected in the Active Frame double clisking on it with the
mouse or pressing Return will cause WinFile to run the program that created
the selected file and load the file into it. For example: if a file
MYFILE.DOC is selected, and you have Microsoft Word installed, WinFile will
run Word and load MYFILE into it.
If no program is associated with a file, WinFile will run the default
viewer.
It the selected file is a .EXE, .COM or .BAT WinFilw will run the selected
program or batch file.
To edit a batch file, or view the contents of a .EXE or .COM file press
F to edit or V to view the selected file. This will run the default editor
or viewer and not run the file itself.
The Command Line menu option will simply perform whatever commands you type
into its text box.
Good Luck and have FUN.
