  2. Installing the Event Manager:

  4.     At present, installing the Event Manager involves several
  5.  steps. 
  6.

  8. 1. Because there is no guarantee that a program cannot be virus
  9.    infected, take the time to scan for a virus just to be safe.
  10.    It could prove well worth your time.
  11.  
  12. 2. Unzip the downloaded file into a directory of your choice.
  13.    A strongly suggested directory title is "C:\EVENT". The
  14.    example programs will have to be edited if you choose another
  15.    directory name. Check the unzipped files againt the PACKLST.TXT
  16.    file to see if all is there.

  18. 3. Copy all .VBX and .DLL files to the "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM"
  19.    directory. You will want to check the dates on your existing
  20.    .VBX and .DLL files before copying in case you have a more up
  21.    to date file already. In that case you would not want to copy
  22.    mine into your directory.

  24. 4. Install the icons for each of the three programs "EVENT.EXE",
  25.    "MACED.EXE" and "DDETEST.EXE" by the following method:

  27.      Select File from the File Manager.  Then choose New.  When
  28. the New Program Object dialog box appears, select Program Item and
  29. OK. The Program Item Properties dialog box will then appear. At the
  30. Description line, type "Event Manager.  At the Command line, type 
  31. "C:\EVENT\EVENT.EXE", then choose OK.  The Event Manager icon will
  32. now appear in your Program Manager selections. Auxiliary programs,
  33. MACED.EXE and DDETEST.EXE can be started from the Tools menu. You
  34. can install their icons if desired in the same manner as for the
  35. Event Manager.

  37. 5. The manual can be loaded into Word for Windows, or Microsoft Works. The
  38.    file is EVENTS.RTF which is a Rich Text Format. There is currently in the
  39.    BETA edition of Ver 1.0 no online help, so you will need to print the 
  40.    manual. On Line Help is coming.
