DISTRIBUTION
STARDATE 2140.2: BATTLES ON DISTANT PLANETS (BATTLES 1.9) and all
additional scenarios are Copyright 1992, 1993, 1994 - Glacier Edge
Technology - All Rights Reserved.
This basic game and the "A Night on Rangor" scenario, included
in bdp190.zip are distributed as shareware.
Please make copies of bdp190.zip, and give to your friends or upload
to other BBS. Only the basic game and the "A Night on Rangor"
scenarios are shareware. All additional scenarios and the licensed
version of the game are not shareware.
No fees can be collected for the copies of bdp190.zip which you give
away.
Those companies who distribute shareware, on disks or CD-ROMs for a
fee, either via mail or rack, please see the distributor note below.
Please copy or upload only bdp190.zip and not the individual files.
Please do not remove or modify any files contained in bdp190.zip.
This file which is included in bdp190.zip, must be retained in
any copies distributed.
INSTALLATION
BATTLES 1.9 is a Windows 3.x application and must be installed
on a hard disk drive. You should copy the bdp190.zip file to
a new directory, preferably called \BATTLES, before unzipping
the file.
BATTLES 1.9 will expect to find it's initialization file, "bdp.ini",
in the default Windows directory, which is usually C:\WINDOWS.
You should copy the "bdp.ini" file to the default windows
directory.
Refer to your Windows 3.x User's Guide for the procedure to
install the BATTLES 1.9 application and icon in the program group
of your choice.
The User Manual is on-line, via the HELP menu item of the main
menu, and you should read it before attempting to play the game.
Also each scenario has both INFORMATION and HISTORY, which should
be read before attempting to play a scenario.
SOUND SUPPORT
BATTLES 1.9 will provide sound support for the standard PC speaker
or for Microsoft Multimedia Audio compatible sound boards under
Windows 3.1 or greater.
If you have Windows 3.0, you should upgrade to Windows 3.1 to
receive the best sound effects.
The SoundBlaster Sound Board support provided previously under
Windows 3.0, via the sndblst.dll which had been available from
Creative Labs, Inc., has been discontinued due to the withdrawal
of support for the sndblst.dll by Creative Labs, Inc.
If you do not receive sound effects from BATTLES 1.9, and you
do have a compatible sound card, please test your configuration
using the Media Player (provided with MS Windows 3.1) and the
standard .mid and .wav files also provided with MS Windows 3.1.
SHAREWARE
The shareware version of the game STARDATE 2140.2: BATTLES ON
DISTANT PLANETS: "A Night On Rangor", will only play 25 turns
of the 50 turn scenario.
If you are not ordering additional scenarios, but have enjoyed
STARDATE 2140.2: BATTLES ON DISTANT PLANETS: A NIGHT ON RANGOR,
and wish to finish it, please send $5.00 (US) plus shipping
to the Glacier Edge Technology address, and we will send you
a disk with the shareware version of BATTLES 1.9 which can
complete the "A Night On Rangor" scenario.
Registration include the complete "A Night On Rangor" scenario
and up to all the following scenarios:
Desert Counter Attack
Command the remnants of Terran Rangor Strike Force,
after the Rangor raid, who land on the planet Saudis,
a desert world, and make repairs in order to continue
onward to Terra. Unfortunately, the bugs find them
and the Terrans must fight off the Tior'ons.
The Princess
The beautiful Princess Yoi, daughter of Maden the
warlord of Aguilar, has been kidnapped by Ro'Der
of the evil Mercan Trog and is being held in his
starfort. An Aguilarian assault force of Warriors,
Warlords and Hebeast Calvery must rescue her.
Warriors and Warlords are deployed with magical
power armor, and the Hebeast fire breathe is great
for roasting the spitting Trogs. An intense, urban,
house-to-house and rescue tactical problem.
Netherworld
The evil Kar'dare are completing their new Helius Weapon,
which destroys stars. As the Kar'daren complex commander,
command the Slinker and Oker Mechs to defend the Helius.
As the Terran Assault Force commander you must locate the
base on the tropical planet Tara Lie and direct the Terran
Battle and Scout Mechs, with Hovercraft Transports and
Mech Infantry, to destroy the Helius before it can be
taken off planet.
All these additional scenarios can be obtained by sending a check or
money order for $25.00 plus $3.00 shipping and handling ($28.00 US)
(Orders outside the USA should add $5.00 for shipping).

$10.00 plus shipping,
or you can order the "Desert Counter Attack" and "The Princess"
scenarios for $20.00 plus shipping,

You will receive disks with the appropriate scenarios and the
licensed version of the game. Please indicate 5.25 inch disk
or 3.5 inch disk preference and scenarios desired with your order.
The additional scenarios and the licensed version of the game
are not SHAREWARE, and may not be copied or distributed.
TECHNICAL SUPPORT
Battles is a huge Windows application, and accordingly so, places
a large demand on your system. We recommend that you have a minimum
of 4MB of RAM, and nothing else running (just Windows 3.x) at the
time, also we recommend running Battles from a hard disk.
If you experience any problems with the game or scenarios, please
write down the configuration of your system, the scenario you were
playing, what you where trying to do when the problem occurred,
and a detailed description of the problem as best as you can,
and send it to the Glacier Edge Technology address. If possible
save the game (*.svg) and mail it on a disk or E-Mail it.

BATTLES 1.9 on media which you resale, then you must register the one
copy you use for a master in order to obtain written permission to
distribute the BATTLES 1.9 game on your media.
The minimum registration is $15.00 plus applicable shipping.
You will receive a special version of the shareware version of BATTLES
1.9 which contains an advertisement for your distribution service on
the title and closing screens of the game.
You will then be authorized to distribute the shareware version of
game. If you do not register, then you do not have permission to
distribute this game, and would be violating U.S. Copyright laws if
you were to distribute this game.
Those who develop SHAREWARE products need the support of the
users and distributors of the SHAREWARE products in order to
continue developing new SHAREWARE products for your use.
