  15.     This basic game and the "A Night on Rangor" scenario, included 
  16.     in bdp190.zip are distributed as shareware.

  18.     Please make copies of bdp190.zip, and give to your friends or upload 
  19.     to other BBS.  Only the basic game and the "A Night on Rangor" 
  20.     scenarios are shareware.  All additional scenarios and the licensed 
  21.     version of the game are not shareware.

  23.     No fees can be collected for the copies of bdp190.zip which you give 
  24.     away.

  26.     Those companies who distribute shareware, on disks or CD-ROMs for a 
  27.     fee, either via mail or rack, please see the distributor note below.

  37.     INSTALLATION
  38.  
  39.     BATTLES 1.9 is a Windows 3.x application and must be installed
  40.     on a hard disk drive.  You should copy the bdp190.zip file to
  41.     a new directory, preferably called \BATTLES, before unzipping
  42.     the file.
  43.  
  44.     BATTLES 1.9 will expect to find it's initialization file, "bdp.ini",
  45.     in the default Windows directory, which is usually C:\WINDOWS.
  46.  
  47.     You should copy the "bdp.ini" file to the default windows 
  48.     directory.

  50.     Refer to your Windows 3.x User's Guide for the procedure to
  51.     install the BATTLES 1.9 application and icon in the program group
  52.     of your choice.

  54.     The User Manual is on-line, via the HELP menu item of the main
  55.     menu, and you should read it before attempting to play the game.
  56.     Also each scenario has both INFORMATION and HISTORY, which should
  57.     be read before attempting to play a scenario.

  61.     SOUND SUPPORT

  63.     BATTLES 1.9 will provide sound support for the standard PC speaker
  64.     or for Microsoft Multimedia Audio compatible sound boards under 
  65.     Windows 3.1 or greater.

  67.     If you have Windows 3.0, you should upgrade to Windows 3.1 to
  68.     receive the best sound effects.
  69.  
  70.     The SoundBlaster Sound Board support provided previously under
  71.     Windows 3.0, via the sndblst.dll which had been available from
  72.     Creative Labs, Inc., has been discontinued due to the withdrawal
  73.     of support for the sndblst.dll by Creative Labs, Inc.

  75.     If you do not receive sound effects from BATTLES 1.9, and you
  76.     do have a compatible sound card, please test your configuration
  77.     using the Media Player (provided with MS Windows 3.1) and the
  78.     standard .mid and .wav files also provided with MS Windows 3.1.

  81.     SHAREWARE

  83.     The shareware version of the game STARDATE 2140.2: BATTLES ON 
  84.     DISTANT PLANETS: "A Night On Rangor", will only play 25 turns 
  85.     of the 50 turn scenario.

  87.     If you are not ordering additional scenarios, but have enjoyed
  88.     STARDATE 2140.2: BATTLES ON DISTANT PLANETS: A NIGHT ON RANGOR, 
  89.     and wish to finish it, please send $5.00 (US) plus shipping
  90.     to the Glacier Edge Technology address, and we will send you
  91.     a disk with the shareware version of BATTLES 1.9 which can
  92.     complete the "A Night On Rangor" scenario.

  95.     Registration include the complete "A Night On Rangor" scenario

  98.     Desert Counter Attack
  99.  
  100.         Command the remnants of Terran Rangor Strike Force,
  101.         after the Rangor raid, who land on the planet Saudis,
  102.         a desert world, and make repairs in order to continue
  103.         onward to Terra.  Unfortunately, the bugs find them
  104.         and the Terrans must fight off the Tior'ons.
  105.  
  106.     The Princess
  107.  
  108.         The beautiful Princess Yoi, daughter of Maden the
  109.         warlord of Aguilar, has been kidnapped by Ro'Der
  110.         of the evil Mercan Trog and is being held in his
  111.         starfort. An Aguilarian assault force of Warriors,
  112.         Warlords and Hebeast Calvery must rescue her.
  113.         Warriors and Warlords are deployed with magical
  114.         power armor, and the Hebeast fire breathe is great
  115.         for roasting the spitting Trogs.  An intense, urban,
  116.         house-to-house and rescue tactical problem.

  118.     Netherworld
  119.  
  120.         The evil Kar'dare are completing their new Helius Weapon,
  121.         which destroys stars.  As the Kar'daren complex commander,
  122.         command the Slinker and Oker Mechs to defend the Helius.
  123.         As the Terran Assault Force commander you must locate the
  124.         base on the tropical planet Tara Lie and direct the Terran 
  125.         Battle and Scout Mechs, with Hovercraft Transports and 
  126.         Mech Infantry, to destroy the Helius before it can be 
  127.         taken off planet.

  130.     All these additional scenarios can be obtained by sending a check or 
  131.     money order for $25.00 plus $3.00 shipping and handling ($28.00 US) 
  132.     (Orders outside the USA should add $5.00 for shipping).

  159.     Battles is a huge Windows application, and accordingly so, places
  160.     a large demand on your system.  We recommend that you have a minimum
  161.     of 4MB of RAM, and nothing else running (just Windows 3.x) at the
  162.     time, also we recommend running Battles from a hard disk.

  164.     If you experience any problems with the game or scenarios, please
  165.     write down the configuration of your system, the scenario you were
  166.     playing, what you where trying to do when the problem occurred,
  167.     and a detailed description of the problem as best as you can,
  168.     and send it to the Glacier Edge Technology address.  If possible
  169.     save the game (*.svg) and mail it on a disk or E-Mail it.
