To install Worlds Chat, click the button above to begin the installation process. You will be asked if you want the express set-up which will install WinG and some libraries. If you do not want these installed, choose the custom installation.
Once you have installed Worlds Chat, establish your Internet connection and click on the AWORLD icon and you will be connected to Worlds Chat.
Please be sure that you meet the minimum system requirements. You must:
-- Be running Windows 3.1, NT or 95
-- Be using a 486/50 or higher PC
-- Have a direct Internet connection (PPP or SLIP)
-- Have a 9600 baud or higher modem
-- Have 8 MB of RAM
-- You will not be able to hear sound unless you have a 16-bit sound card.
-- Your display can show at least 256 colors under Windows
Some of the traditional online services will let you use this space. Here are special instructions if you are using CompuServe or MSN:
CONNECTING FROM COMPUSERVE (800-848-8990)
1. Click on the Go icon and type PPP to get to Compuserve's Internet area.
2. Select "Download Net Launcher for Windows", a 1.2MB download.
3. Install it, and it will create a new program group that includes the Compuserve Internet Dialer.
4. Click on Dial and you will connect to your normal Compuserve number with TCP/IP access.
5. Once you are connected, click on the Worlds Chat icon.
CONNECTING FROM MICROSOFT NETWORK (800-426-9400)
1. First, make sure you are running MSN 1.05 and you have connected using a "full Internet access" telephone number.
2. If you still have MSN 1.0, you will need to upgrade. Start at MSN Central. Click "File," "Go To", "Other Location", and type "WWW".
3. Follow the installation instructions. MSN will download a list of new connection telephone numbers; pick one and reconnect to that new number.
Please be aware that if you are using a browser that installs winsock.dll in a directory other than the Windows subdirectory (i.e. Spry Mosaic for ZD Net, Netscape, GNN, InterChange, possibly others), that in order to use this software, you must copy your winsock.dll to your Windows subdirectory.
