  9. We strongly support the GPO Gateway/WINDO (S. 2813; hr 2772)
  10. legislation now pending before the Senate Rules and House
  11. Administration Committees.  These bills will vastly expand public
  12. access to information produced at public expense, and allow ordinary
  13. citizens to benefit from billions of dollars in federal expenditures
  14. on information technologies.  Citizen access to government computer
  15. systems and databases through modems and computers is an idea whose
  16. time has come.  These bills are strongly supported by the American
  17. Library Association, academic organizations, and many others in the
  18. research community, including citizens groups and large and small
  19. businesses.  Please tell me what specific steps you take to obtain
  20. passage of this important legislation.
