- PSFONTS.DOC -- PostScript Windows screen fonts -- 07/01/90
-
- This file contains 22 of PostScript screen fonts for Windows, already
- converted, and with a sample "PSFONTS.INI" file with lines you should
- insert into your WIN.INI file (don't replace the entire "[fonts]" or
- "[PostScript, port]" section, just add the font lists).
-
- These fonts, combined with the TmsRmn, Helv, Courier and Symbol fonts
- already supplied with Windows, give you the entire 35 fonts which are
- built-in to the Apple LaserWriter and compatible printers.
-
- Note that the Helvetica Narrow fonts are actually Helvetica Condensed,
- but that's the closest font that Adobe supplies. I have patched the
- files to read as "Helvetica Narrow".
-
- Copy all the .PFM and .FON files to your Windows subdirectories,
- then edit WIN.INI, including the sections in the PSFONTS.INI file.
-
- The "[fonts]" section identifies to Windows the screen fonts.
- The "softfonts" lines for your printer tells Windows which screen
- fonts to use, but it is setup so that it appears the "softfonts"
- are already download to the printer (which they are). Be sure to
- change the "e:\windows\" to your Windows directory. (Don't
- include the "[fonts]" and "[PostScript,LPT1:]" lines, those are
- just to help you identify where in the WIN.INI file the lines
- should go.)
-
- These fonts will work with either Windows v2.xx or Windows v3.00.
- They will NOT work with Windows v1.03 (but nobody is running THAT
- anymore, right?). Unlike the files released by Adobe, these are
- already converted, so you don't have to run NEWFON.
-
- Be sure and read the FONTDIS.TXT file included in this .ZIP file,
- it is the font distribution agreement from Adobe regarding these
- screen fonts.
-
- NOTE that there are no printer fonts included in here, these are
- just screen fonts to represent the standard PostScript fonts included
- in the Apple LaserWriter Plus and compatible printers.
-
- Fonts supplied by Adobe Systems, Inc. Converted and included in this
- PSFONTS.ZIP file by Mr. Kim Levitt, Synergistic Enterprises.
