  5.    This archive contains ARJ version 2.81a OFFICIAL FULL RELEASE from ARJ
  6.    Software, Inc., http://www.arjsoftware.com.  This is a major
  7.    enhancement and bug fix release.

  10.    ARJ is a file compression utility with more file management functions
  11.    than other popular file compression utilities.  The version management
  12.    and backup support features of ARJ strongly set it apart from other
  13.    file compression utilities.  ARJ is command line driven which makes it
  14.    easier to use in automated processes such as providing backup for an
  15.    accounting package.

  17.    The use of ARJ in a business, commercial, government or institutional
  18.    environment EXCEPT for a 30 day evalution period requires a license.
  19.    This version will expire slowly after a year or so.  Registration
  20.    avoids expiration.
  21.  
  22.    This software as originally released by ARJ Software, Inc. came
  23.    "sealed" in an ARJ self-extracting archive with an ARJ-SECURITY digital
  24.    envelope to prevent tampering.  Re-archival of this software will
  25.    destroy this security feature "seal".

  27.    In addition, this release is set up to demonstrate the new execute
  28.    after extraction option.  This self-extractor will execute the program
  29.    ARJTEST.EXE after a successful extraction.  ARJTEST.EXE is a simple
  30.    display-a-message program.  Because this self-extractor is ARJ-SECURED,
  31.    the user will not be prompted for permission to execute the ARJTEST.EXE
  32.    program.

  34.    Please note that some versions of Norton Anti-virus will report a false
  35.    alarm when scanning this archive and/or its contents.  This
  36.    self-extracting archive will test itself during extraction and report
  37.    any corruption or infection.

  39.    This version of ARJ uses a new registration scheme.  This obsoletes all
  40.    ARJ registration keys prior to 2.7x.  ARJ 1.x and 2.x registered users
  41.    are eligible for a free replacement registration key.  Please supply
  42.    proof of registration with a copy of your signed license document, or a
  43.    copy of your registration keys, or a printout or screen capture of your
  44.    ARJ.EXE registration display which we will use to check our records.

  46.    This release of ARJ now saves the Windows file properties of date-time
  47.    created and date-time accessed.  This will cause archives to be
  48.    slightly larger in size.  This feature can be disabled.

  50.    ARJ is not just another archiving program.  The flexibility of ARJ
  51.    lets users manipulate and manage files in ways that no other archiver
  52.    or file manager does.  In addition, ARJ provides ARJ-PROTECT which is
  53.    a data error correction facility that allows for the repair of many
  54.    damaged (ARJ-PROTECTED) archives.

  56.    It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you run the TESTARJ.BAT batch file to
  57.    verify that this version of ARJ.EXE is working correctly.

  59.    Even though ARJ and ARJ32 are very compatible, they are considered
  60.    SEPARATE AND DISTINCT products from ARJ Software, Inc. for licensing
  61.    purposes.

  73.    The ability to repair small amounts of archive damage (headers and file
  74.    data) for an ARJ-PROTECTED (-hk) archive.

  76.    The ability to process and archive up to 50,000 files at one time (up
  77.    to 260,000 files for registered users).

  79.    The ability to store many different backups (chapters) within a SINGLE
  80.    archive and restore any specific backup.  This is a powerful file

  86.    ARJ has the option to create multiple volume archives with one command
  87.    making ARJ useful for making backups to multiple floppies or archiving
  88.    a very large file to several floppies without "SLICE"ing.

  90.    ARJ has the ability to generate multiple volume archives with all
  91.    volumes with an EXE file extension to simplify Internet browser
  92.    downloading of such archives.
