  11. THE AWALE
  12.  
  13.  Awale is an ancient  African  game,  certainly  one of the oldest  reflection
  14.  games of  the  humanity.
  15.  Its  rules are  simple, but the  strategies to be  successful  can be  complex
  16.  and  subtle.
  17.  The program can be run under Windows 95,  Windows NT 4 or  Windows 3.1x+Win32s
  18.  and needs about 1500 Kb of free memory space.

  20.  To install it, just launch 'install' and enter the  directory name you want to
  21.  install 'Awale' into.
  22.  The Microsoft WinG Runtime is also installed if necessary.

  24.  If you encounter some problems during starting of the  software, try to launch
  25.  it  while  maintaining the "Ctrl" key depressed, in order to disable music and
  26.  sound effects.

  29. WHAT'S NEW ?
  30.  
  31.  It's now possible to play against another player through the Internet. Awale
  32.  can now connect you to a chat-room to communicate with other players and to
  33.  challenge them 'live'. You can also dialog with other Awale amateurs, or
  34.  follow 'live' a game played by two other players.

  36.  New rules have been added : Adjito, Darra, Kale, Songo..., coming from
  37.  everywhere in the world.

  39.  The commentaries about each rule have been detailed, and some examples of
  40.  strategies have been added.

  42.  This new version offers additional features that had been suggested by some
  43.  users.
  44.  First, it's now  possible  to view the  played holes history list,  and to get
  45.  back at any point of the game. You can also save or load a  game. This  allows
  46.  you to try  several  strategies  for a  single  playboard  configuration,  and
  47.  therefore to improve your level...

  49.  Registering this version allows you to play  against  the  "Grand Master" game
  50.  level. This level is now configurable in terms of depth and computing time.

  52.  A great number of users write to us to  communicate their enthusiasm for Awale
  53.  and inform us about their own  variations  of the rules. We want to thank them
  54.  here.
  55.  In order to create a rules and variations database, we integrated to Awale the
  56.  capability of defining your own rules. If you know an interesting rule, define
  57.  it, test it, and send us the  definition file, we'll then be able to integrate
  58.  this new rule to the next release of Awale, and propose it on our Web site.

  60.  It's now possible to print a game manual describing all the rules known by the
  61.  software, as well as the history list.

  66.  Copy  and  non-commercial  distribution of this  software are allowed, only on
  67.  condition that no file of this package is modified or omitted.
  68.  The  shareware  version  of  Awale  grants  you the access to all the features
  69.  necessary to play.

  71.    -  the high levels of computer game,
  72.    -  the games and rules saving.

  77.  An US$10 fee is asked if you want to  continue  playing  Awale after a 3-weeks
  78.  trial delay.
  79.  Your  registration  number  will be  sent as  soon as  your  fee is  received.

  81.  the features. This code is personal and must not be diffused.
