  23.  Comment: I came across  this article in Computer  Shopper (Sept 1987) and  it
  24.    talked about citizens access goverment  computers since we do pay  for them
  25.    with our taxpayers monies. Since then I have had friends and gone on a  few
  26.    myself and the databases are full of information for accessing. One  thing,
  27.    you usually have to call the sysop for access and give him your real  name,
  28.    address and the like. They call  you back and verify your eistence.  Just a
  29.    word of warning; crashing a BBS is  a crime, so I wouldn't fool with  these
  30.    since they are goverment based.

  204.  I skipped listing a few of the BBS's in this article if the chances were slim
  205.    to get on or if the BBS got a bad review. Most of the ones listed seemed to
  206.    have lot of  informative files for  downloading and viewing  pleasure. This
  207.    article  carried  a  very  strong  word of warning about tampering/crashing
  208.    these since they are run by the gov't and a volunteer Sysop. Since you  can
  209.    get on these legally why not use it?
