text 0 0 307 190 Try some other extremes. You will soon see that the angle at which the torch flame is aimed at the steel tube will affect your control of the weld. Experiment with different angles. Try different size torch tips and different gas velocities. Try different distances between the torch tip and the the steel tube. You'll notice some startling results. If you move the torch too close, the flame is extinguished or even more surprisingly, it explodes the molten puddle with a loud bang. If you move the torch too far away, the exhaust from the torch no longer keeps oxygen in the air away from the molten steel, and it sparks and burns, ~ text 328 3 635 103 leaving a porous surface. Try different size welding rods. As you'll see, the larger diameter ones are harder to melt and the smaller ones are hard to control.
