Clamp a fresh section of tubing in
the vise and again set the
regulators to 5 psi each, put on
your goggles and light a flame.
Pick up a 3/32" welding rod in
your left hand. Heat up a small
area about 1" from the right hand
edge of the steel tube.
Keep an end of the welding rod
close to the hot spot of the tube,
but don't touch it. The idea is to
warm up the welding rod, but not
melt it yet. Watch the steel
tubing carefully. You'll see it
turn red, then sweat, finally the
surface, perhaps a 1/4" diameter
area, will melt. This is when you
bring the rod into action. Put an

end of the rod into the puddle of
steel, and it will melt, adding to
the puddle. As this happens,
slowly progress to the left. As
the left side of the puddle melts,
the right side will solidify. Melt
more of the welding rod into the
puddle.
