  46. preheat with  a  regular  flame,
  47. then  turn  off the acetylene to
  48. burn  a  cut  with  pure oxygen.
  49. Sometimes you  have  to  relight
  50. the  flame   with  acetylene  to
  51. continue  the  cut.  Using  this
  52. technique, the  only pre-heating
  53. comes from the  burning of steel
  54. itself.

  63. metals   with  a  cutting  torch
  64. also, but you will not have  the
  65. burning  effect.   To  cut brass
  66. or aluminum, use the pre-heating
  67. flames to melt the  metal,  then
  68. momentarily   blast   away   the
  69. liquid  with  cold oxygen.  This
  70. technique is slower  because you
  71. can cut only 1/4" at a time.
