This is an easy compact way to get circular polarization. It really becomes
interesting when you add parasitic elements. The horizontal and vertical
fields can share the loop parasitics without interference, so you get circular
polarization without adding any extra elements. In a circularly polarized Yagi
you would have to duplicate each element at 90 deg to achieve the same effect.
Be sure to use a current balun or common mode feedline choke on each feedline
(preferably a quarter wave away from the feedpoints) to prevent the current
from the other feedpoint from traveling out onto the coax.
