READ.ME This File
Running from Floppy Disk
First make a backup disk. Then create some free space on the working
disk by deleting the documentation files. Do not write-protect the disk, and
be sure to read item 3 below.
Running from Hard Disk
Copy the contents of this disk into a single directory on your hard
disk. Then read MN.DOC to find out how to set up subdirectories containing
antenna and plot files.
Text Editor
A simple text editor from PC Magazine has been included so that you may
create and edit antenna files. You may also use any other text editor or
wordprocessor. See MN.DOC for more details.
Troubleshooting
If you have problems running MN on your computer check the following:
1. Be sure you have enough usable memory. MN requires at least 300K
free bytes by itself. You may have 384K of memory installed but 100K
of resident programs, leaving too little room for MN to execute. If
you plot from within MN you need at least 450K free bytes to accomodate
both MN and PLOT in memory at the same time.
2. Remove any resident programs and try MN. Some resident programs can
cause undesirable interactions with programs loaded subsequently.
3. The DOS program COMMAND.COM must be accessible to MN and PLOT. To
ensure this execute the following command at the DOS prompt:
SET COMSPEC=Drive:\COMMAND.COM
where Drive indicates the disk drive containing COMMAND.COM while
running MN. If you are using a single floppy disk system you must
either copy COMMAND.COM from your DOS disk onto the MN disk or put
COMMAND.COM into a small RAM disk in memory.
4. Try starting MN and PLOT with the antenna filename on the command
line, e.g., MN DIPOLE. This may be useful if you are using a version
of DOS earlier than 3.00. Early DOS versions contain certain bugs
which may impact MN. DOS 3.00 or later is recommended.
5. Always check the .RUN file to make sure that the geometry and feedpoint
have been correctly interpreted by MN.
6. As a last resort please reread MN.DOC carefully.
7. If you believe that you have received a defective disk do not return
it. Instead, contact K6STI for a replacement.
