THIS IS WHAT "PICPRO" IS ALL ABOUT

you to a few of the many features which are built into the larger
"PACFILE". Some of the more advanced features of PACFILE are:

WeFax "ALT W" control
Function Key Control
ASCII Files from disk transfers
Binary Files Transfer
Programmable Routing Buffers
Automatic Configuration of TNC
10 line Type ahead buffer

On Line Clock
Receive and Transmit to and from Disk
32 Kbyte Capture and Save buffer
Display Files

PacFile is the most powerful packet terminal program for the
serious packet radio operator to date. Please INCLUDE YOUR
CALLSIGN when ordering. PacFile is available from:
Kantronics Inc.
1202 23 rd Street
Lawrence, Kansas 66046
Price: $29.95.
Using the Kantronics WEFAX features to receive a weather fax
picture with your communications receiver, is accomplished in
this manner:
Boot PICPRO.EXE...
To set the terminal parameters press F3.
After the communications parameters are set to the proper
baudrate, parity to None, Databits to 8, and 1 stopbit.
It is important to define the correct comport ie; com 1...etc.
While holding the CONTROL key down, press the F10 key, this will
save the PICPRO configuration to disk. The next time you boot the
"PICPRO.EXE", you will not have to reconfigure the system. PICPRO
will do it for you. You may need to make some changes in the KAM
or KPC commands. You may use the following settings as a guide:
MON ON
8BIT ON
AUTOLF OFF
AX25 ON
ECHO OFF
PACL 0
PAR 4
HE OFF
MAXFRAME 7 (IF DIRECT CONNECT, NO DIGIS..OTHERWISE USE 4)
USERS 1
MAXUSERS 1 *** (ALL software flow controls off, PACFILE
and PicPro use RTS/CTS hardware
handshaking, pins 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 if
DB-25 connector and RS-232 C standard).
XFLO OFF
TRFLO OFF
TXFLO OFF
FLO OFF
XOFF 00
XON 00

MAXUSERS 0/1 (KAM or KPC-4, spell "MAXUSERS", do not
abbreviate) USERS 1/1 (KAM or KPC-4)
SCREENL 0 (It MUST be set to ZERO (0) )

You can now use PICPRO to receive the WEFAX pictures.
Be sure you have the KAM or KPC audio input, connected to the
audio output of a stable communications receiver or transceiver.
At the moment PICPRO is in the terminal mode. You can now move
into the WEFAX or PICTURE mode by performing a CONTROL A.
You should continue to see the CMD: prompt on your screen. If not
you should reset the KAM or KPC, making sure the ABaud settings
agree, between the KAM/KPC and the PC. Confirm the correct
comport.
Once you have the WEFAX station tuned in, at the cmd: prompt, type
WEFAX 1280 1. Start the scan of the chart by pressing F1.
You can restart the FAX picture or resync it by pressing the F1
key, and as many times as you like.
Once in the FAX mode and while you are receiving a weather fax
picture, you can change the overscan rate by using the page up
and page down keys to vary the sweep, ie; wefax 1280 1 is what
you enter when you press F1, but you may want to set the complete
picture to your screen with less resolution. To do so just press
the page-up key five (5) times. With practice, you will soon have
the fax picture appearing exactly as you would like to print.
Save the weatherfax picture in this manner:
After the weather fax picture is complete, press F8 to place
it into the RAM buffer. You can look at the picture in the buffer
using ALT D. If it is a picture or chart, you wish to save, press
ALT S and give it a name, (we use an extension of PIC
for pictures and FAX for weatherfax) then press <enter>.
If not, ESC <enter> to go to the packet CMD: mode. Control A and
F1 will again take you to the FAX mode you were in, or the ESC key
will return you to the PICPRO terminal mode.
If you like to look at pictures in colors other than the received
colors, just look at this touch of genius Bob has supplied in
PICPRO. While the picture is displayed on your screen, use the up,
and down arrows and watch the miriade of colors as you manipulate
the arrow keys.
When you first pulled the directory of the PICPRO disk, you saw
a program called, appropriately "VF.EXE". Place this program
on the "picture disk" with the pictures you are filing. At any
time you wish to look at or view the pictures which you have
saved, just boot the VF.EXE program and at the prompt for
filename, give it the picture title you want to see and enter.
Press ESC to view more pictures with VF.EXE. Shift F10 will send
the picture to some printers.
Another program on the disk is SCD.EXE. When you find a picture
in a program or file you would like to send or save for future
packet transfer, simply load it. It will advise you how to
proceed if a picture appears on screen you wish to save.
This "screen dump" program will save as many pictures as you can
look at while loaded or until the disk is full. Each successive
picture title will be incremented by one, (SCREEN.000...SCREEN.001
etc..) until the screen dump/save utility SCD.EXE is removed from
the "background" of the PC.
If the VF.EXE does not print your displayed picture with Shift
F10, then use the following method to send the picture to your dot
matrix printer.
Most MS/DOS disks contain a program called "GRAPHICS.COM".
This is the vehicle which allows a "SCREEN DUMP" or hardcopy of
the viewed screen. It must be loaded prior to booting PICPRO.EXE.
Once it is resident in upper memory, it can be called at any time
to do a printout of the screen by envoking the "print screen"
command. On some PC clones, this is the "Shift / Print" keys.
Here is the command summary of the PICPRO.EXE commands.
