Weather Information and Forecasting
I created this program out of an interest in Water Resources, Weather,
and general admiration of our Natural Resources. This software is to be
registerd as you will experience it's full potential when you do. The
cost is just $19.95. What's in it for YOU when you register? You'll
receive a more accurate forecast, printing capabilities, more features
to do more things, and the very latest version I've created!
The .ZIP file should have these five files contained in it:
WETH35E.EXE, WETH.CFG, WETH35E.DOC, LICENSE.DOC, and REGISTER.FRM.
It is absolutely imperative that you have the WETH.CFG configuration
file. If for some reason you do not have it, you can create it by doing:
COPY CON WETH.CFG <ENTER>
"","" <ENTER>
F6 <ENTER>
That will create the needed format to run the program.
This program will run on an IBM or somewhat close campatible with a
minimum of 640k RAM, and at least CGA graphics -- in other words, just
about every machine out there. The program is fairly straight forward,
and menu driven; consequently, there is no lenghty document file to read.
Just type 'WETH35E' to start the program.
I have seen the program hang up on some older Tandy 1000's, and older
Epsons. These machines (and some others) have special features built
in to make them unique; unfortunately, it also brings their compatibility
down a bit. I used no extra-special programming tricks to stretch the
abilities of the program -- it's all very straight forward.
If you ever happen to see a filename of "NOYEAR.xxx", it means you
entered the database and didn't give it a year. Also, the program saves
your database files in the format "WET 1993.FEB". This format is for a
special reason. Unfortunately, some versions of DOS don't like to copy
those type of files. Most copy utilities have no problem copying that
format. So, if you want to copy the data files you created, you may
need to use a copy utility.
I'd like to send much Thanks to Tim Peterson who has helped me quite a
bit with many parts of the programming routines.
I'd also like to thank Robert Frostick for sending me several ideas for
improving the forecasting and database. It's not everyone who sends
seven pages of ideas!
