If so, please share the experience with somebody else.
If your friends are interested in cyberpunk, please give them a copy.
If you have a modem, please upload it to your favourite BBS.
Speaking of BBS's, you can call Tim Campbell's BBS at 514-345-8654. He has
plenty of software which you can download on your first call.

To most people outside the computer world, conditioned by uninformed media,
cyberpunk sounds like vandalism without purpose. I think it's more helpful
to see cyberpunks as people who are giving our old assembly-line bureaucracy
a much-needed kick in the pants.
The computer networks are extremely liberating, and it's frustrating to deal
with an old-fashioned establishment that doesn't see this. Surely this is
what is at the heart of the cyberpunk movement.
In the coming years, cyberpunk will help remove a lot of preconceptions. One
particularly subversive idea is that of shareware and freeware. Software is
by its very nature freely reproducible and thus hard to control. (Why do you
think the Soviet Union forbade people to own personal computers and
photocopy machines? Popular rebellions require communication in order to
succeed.)
Today, cyberpunks and hackers live with in a world of free data flow. As
with any tool available to mankind, it can be used for good, or for evil.
For destructive purposes ... or constructive purposes!

Tim and I would like to think that this "diskbook" is a good example of a
constructive use of the new technology. In theory, this one book could be
uploaded to a central system (such as CompuServe) and by the participation
of those who enjoy it, be passed to hundreds or thousands of people who
would find it amusing and interesting. That's the power that we all have at
our fingertips!
This requires a new breed of information consumer. Unfortunately, people
who sit in front of the TV and merely absorb what they see aren't likely to
pass around good software. "Couch potatoes" don't seem to be ready for the
interactive, high-participation future that awaits us.
Are you a watcher or a participant? If you're somebody who likes to get
involved in the process, you could help us (and others) by uploading this
diskbook to a BBS or network. Have a look at the following list, and if
your favourite system is listed, you can help spread the idea of diskbooks
by uploading this one.
See if you can find your "online home" in this list...

Did you find some of your favourite "cyberspace hang-outs"? If so, please
upload a copy of this diskbook so that your online neighbours can enjoy it,
too.
Thank-you for taking the time to read "New Horizons in Cyberpunk". If this
book gets a wide distribution, we will come out with another diskbook in a
few weeks -- it's already mostly written!
