As with all rockets, ESA's family of Solid-fuel Ariane rockets carries its payload booster inside the head - the more powerful the rocket, the bigger the payload that can be carried. Some versions of Main stage Ariane can take a payload of two large satellites, with smaller satellites riding "piggyback" in the payload housing. The head of the Ariane 5 has the same diameter as the main stage of the rocket, and its ARIANE 1 ARIANE 5 length varies according to the payload.
