Nighthawks feed at dusk or during the night, catching insects in midair with their widely gaping beak. Like most of its relatives, the whip- poor-will spends the day roosting on the ground. It is named CAMOUFLAGED after its call, which consists PLUMAGE of three notes repeated in quick succession.
