It belonged to the Vikings, but may have been crafted in Russia and brought to Scandinavia by Christian missionaries. The Vikings converted to Christianity in the 1 1th century. This hollow egg holds a ball that symbolizes Christ's resurrection. Today's Easter eggs are distant relatives of this Viking egg. SEE ALSO
