Labels:text | cartoon | illustration OCR: 1 DIGITAL DOMAIN DVD-ROM A CD-ROM drive works like an audio LIGHT-SENSITIVE compact disc system, using a laser CELL to read binary data stored on the disc as a series of pits. A DVD-ROM drive uses a similar system, but has a laser with a variable focus, allowing two layers of data to be held on both sides of the disc. A combination of this, and the greater RED LIGHT accuracy of the lasers used in DVD LASER systems, means that a DVD-ROM disc can hold almost 30 times as much information as a CD.
