  12. Thank you for purchasing "Monster Media `93", the latest collection of 1993
  13. Public Domain and Shareware programs. We have made every effort to ensure
  14. that these discs contain *NO* duplicate programs, *NO* multiple versions of
  15. the same program and that *ALL* programs were either written, updated or
  16. released between September 01, 1993 and December 31, 1993.

  18. To install the Monster Media File Viewer, change to your CD-ROM directory
  19. and type "INSTALL". Follow the prompts and the program will start up after
  20. installation if you choose to run it immediately.

  22. Total installation requires almost 1.6 Megs of hard drive space.
  23.  
  24. You may use this version of ViewCD on ALL of your Monster Media discs. You
  25. no longer need to keep seperate directories for each disc. You also no longer
  26. need all of the DIR files, as ViewCD now reads the file directories and
  27. descriptions right off of the disc that's in your drive.

  29. If you would like to keep multiple copies of the different search databases
  30. for the different Monster Media discs, use the VCDSRCH.EXE database maker and
  31. name each database with a unique name (ie. Monster Media `93 - No. 3 could
  32. be named VCD93_3.DAT). When you want to do a search just pick the database
  33. you'd like to search and find that file FAST!
  34.  
  35. To view the animation, GIF, PCX, TGA, JPG and MPeg files on the disc, just
  36. press the F2 key when the file you wish to view is highlighted.

  38. By default VIEWCD uses AAPlay, DVPeg, MPeg and TPicem as it's image viewers.
  39. If you experience problems viewing images you may have low conventional memory
  40. or you need a VESA driver. You must configure DVPeg for your video card by
  41. running VIDSETUP (found in the MONSTER directory). If you would like a more
  42. feature-filled viewer, we suggest either VPIC or Graphic Workshop for DOS or
  43. Windows. Both can be found in the GRAPHICS directory and are easy to use.

  45. VIEWCD uses Info-Zip's UnZip to decompress the files on this disc. UnZip is
  46. in the MONSTER directory.

  48. In the MONSTER directory we have included the utility to build the database
  49. ViewCD uses to search for text and/or keywords. If you need to re-build the
  50. database for any reason, use this. There is a database file located in the
  51. MONSTER directory already created for you.

  54. For those WINDOWS programs that require a VBRUN?00.DLL file or a THREED3.VBX
  55. runtime library, you can find these 4 files in the main directory. Copy them
  56. to your \WINDOWS\SYSTEM directory and any program that needs to load one or
  57. more of these files will be able to find them.

  61. IMPORTANT!  To speed up the loading of the various file listings while in
  62. ViewCD, it is suggested that the buffers in MSCDEX be set for 18 or more.
  63. This will greatly decrease loading time.

  67. The main directory contains various file structures that you may use to
  68. convert to your BBS program (if you're running one).

  70. The file BOARD.ZIP contains a FILES.BBS to PCBOARD converter. Our thanks to
  71. Reichard Computer Consulting for this shareware utility.
