  1. This will add definition and perspective. Now, with the last blue dye, pour a little

  3. onto a plastic plate. Apply a little dye to the roller and roll over the fabric. Don't

  5. worry if the dye comes off the roller in an uneven fashion ... it all adds to the

  7. character of the piece. Take the sea sponge next, wet it in a little water and use a 
  8. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  9. small amount of the dye left on the plate. Don't put too much dye on the sponge, or 
  10. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  11. it will give big blobs again with no definition. Fill in the spaces as you see fit.  Fold 
  12. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  13. the plastic over the painted piece of fabric and then fold it up into a smaller, more 
  14. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  15. manageable piece. Place in a warm spot such as outdoors in the sun, or in the car to 
  16. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  17. provide the heat necessary for dye fixation. After a period of no less than 4 hours, or 
  18. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  19. up to a few days, you can rinse the fabric in cold water, wash in hot with synthropol 
  20. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  21. SP or your normal washing powder and rinse again in cold until the water runs clear.

  23. Try a few of these painted pieces at one time with different colours and different 
  24. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  25. applicator tools to see what different effects that you can achieve. Have fun and

  27. keep records, just in case you want to do that special piece again. Use any left over 
  28. --- RECORDSEPARATOR ---
  29. dye in a tray dye.
