  2.                 WELCOME TO QMODEM VERSION 4.52 TEST-DRIVE
  3.                 -----------------------------------------

  5.   This README file (README.QTD) contains important information about
  6.   Qmodem v4.52 Test-Drive and OLX v2.1 Test-Drive.
  7.  
  8.   Version 4.52 corrects a problem with using previous Qmodem registration
  9.   numbers with v4.51. It is otherwise identical to v4.51. This release
  10.   now also includes a copy of Off-Line Xpress Test-Drive.

  13.   INSTALLATION
  14.   ------------
  15.  
  16.   Qmodem TD comes in various forms, depending on where you received your 
  17.   copy.
  18.   
  19.   If you are reading this from within the INSTALL process you have
  20.   already completed installation and extraction of the program files.
  21.  
  22.   This disk also has a copy of Off-Line Xpress (OLX) Test-Drive which
  23.   is also installed by the Qmodem TD installation (if selected).
  24.   
  25.   If you're reading this text outside of INSTALL you may have 
  26.   received it from a BBS system, and it most likely it came in the 
  27.   form of one or two large ZIP files with names like QMOLXTD1.ZIP. Inside
  28.   the ZIP files are the disk files that have been ZIP'd into
  29.   their own ZIP file. You should have also received the INSTALL.EXE program 
  30.   which extracts the ZIP files into a hard disk subdirectory as desired.
  31.   Simply run INSTALL to perform the installation.

  33.   Upgrading:
  34.   ----------

  36.   If you are upgrading from a prior release, you may need to run a 
  37.   conversion program.
  38.   
  39.   Version 3.x users must first run 3XTO40.EXE then followed by 4XTO45.EXE
  40.   Version 4.0 to 4.2 can be converted by running the program 4XTO45.EXE
  41.  
  42.   A conversion program is included that converts phone directories from 
  43.   several other communications packages to Qmodem format. It you have 
  44.   directories from Telix v3.12/3.15, Procomm Plus v1.x/2.x or Boyan 5.0 
  45.   you can run the program QMFONCVT.EXE to create duplicate directories 
  46.   in Qmodem format.

  50.   HOW TO GET HELP

  53.   If you have any problems, help is available from the following sources:

  55.   1. Check the Mustang HQ BBS at 805-395-0650.  Leave a comment to our 
  56.      Sysop for help or check the QMODEM file and message areas.

  58.   2. Visit the MSI support forum on CompuServe by typing GO PCVENA and 
  59.      then change to section 9.

  61.   3. Type QMODEM on the GEnie Information Service for instant access to the
  62.      Qmodem forums with their libraries of technical information and answers
  63.      to common questions.

  65.   4. If you have an urgent problem that cannot wait you may call Tech 
  66.      Support at 805-334-2240 Monday through Friday between the hours of 
  67.      9:00am and 5:00pm pacific time.  Please have the following information 
  68.      ready before calling:

  70.      a. Product version number.  The version number for Qmodem is displayed
  71.         when you run the program.
  72.  
  73.      b. Computer brand, model, and the brands and model numbers of any
  74.         additional hardware.
  75.  
  76.      c. Operating system and version number.  The version number can be
  77.         determined by typing VER at the DOS prompt.

  79.      d. Contents of your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files.

  85.   The Install program copied the QMODEMTD.DOC file your Qmodem startup 
  86.   directory.  If you want to print this file, type PRINT QMODEMTD.DOC at 
  87.   your Dos prompt.  Or, you can use the Dos COPY QMODEMTD.DOC PRN command.

  97.   The file distributed by Mustang Softwre, Inc. is OLX-TD.EXE and is a
  98.   installed with Qmodem 4.5TD.
