AN INTRODUCTION TO THE INTEGRAL SCIENTIST
A Product of Integral Scientific Software
Member: Associaton of Shareware Professionals
(See the end of this file for installation how-to and trouble-shooting.)
* THE INTEGRAL SCIENTIST: A hypertext style information utility for
scientists, science educators and college or high school students.
* COMPUTERIZED PERIODIC TABLE AND ELEMENT INFORMATION DATABASE: Over 50
items of information on each of the elements.
* FLASH-CARD LEARNING MODE: Helps the student study the periodic table.
* CUSTOMIZEABLE TEXT VIEWER: Allows the user to include additional
information for easy access.
* UNITS CONVERSION CALCULATOR: Over 450 units of measure in 30
categories. Enter a value and instantly convert it to any of the
corresponding units.
* CHEMICAL SOLUTIONS CALCULATOR: A tool with which to manipulate the
parameters of a chemical solution and perform "what if" planning
prior to solution preparation.
* MOLECULAR WEIGHT CALCULATOR: Enter any chemical formula and calculate
its molecular weight without having to look up the information in
printed tables.
* SOLVENT SELECTOR: Provides important data for choosing the correct
solvent for solution preparation
* DILUTION CALCULATOR: Eliminates mistakes when calculating and performing
dilutions.
The Integral Scientist is a hypertext style information utility for
scientists, science educators and students. It includes a periodic table and
element information database with over 50 items of information on each of the
elements. There is even a flash-card mode to help the student study the
periodic table. A customizeable text viewer allows the user to include
additional information for easy access.
For the laboratory, The Integral Scientist provides the chemist with a tool
with which to manipulate the parameters of a chemical solution and perform
"what if" planning prior to solution preparation. A solvent selector provides
important data for choosing the correct solution solvent and a dilution
calculator eliminates mistakes when performing dilutions. The user may also
enter any chemical formula and calculate its molecular weight without having
to look up the information in printed tables.
Included in The Integral Scientist is a Units Conversion Calculator with over
450 units of measure in 30 categories. A unit value may be easily converted
to any of the corresponding units. Input and output values may be transposed
and the current input value may be scaled. The user can determine if the
conversion is exact or approximate and can view the complete list of
conversion factors at the press of a key. Category definitions are displayed
when selecting the units category and the category of measure can be found
easily by looking up an unfamiliar unit in the index.
Throughout The Integral Scientist, instant help is available. Context
sensitive help windows and full-screen help are one key away and the entire
user's guide is available on-line and will open to the proper chapter at the
press of a key. There is even a "map" so you won't get lost! Science has
never been so much fun, but the information is serious.
Installation How-To and Trouble-Shooting:
Installing this program:
Place the distribution disk in a floppy drive.
or
Copy the distribution files into an empty subdirectory
Change to the drive or subdirectory containing the Integral Scientist files.
Type GO-ISE
If for some reason the above installation technique should fail, try the
following method:
For hard disk systems
Copy all files into a subdirectory
Type _ISEA then respond Y to the query.
Repeat for _ISEB
(_ISEA.exe and _ISEB.exe can then be removed)
For floppy disk systems:
Insert this disk in drive A: and a blank formatted disk in drive B:
Copy all files except _ISEA.exe and _ISEB.exe to B:
Type _ISEA B: and respond to the query with Y.
Type _ISEB B: and respond to the query with Y.
