Welcome to the LOST CHURCHILL LIBRARY. This program will
introduce you to the American Winston Churchill and his
colorful stories of America's past. But first, here are a
few hints about using the program itself:
--Using your keyboard or mouse, you can PAGE UP and PAGE
DOWN to read through the chapters.
(HOME takes you to the beginning of
a chapter, and END to the end.)
--If you don't finish a chapter
at one reading, you can set a
bookmark by pressing CTRL-B,
and when you restart the
program you will return to
where you left off.
--You can move to the table of contents screen directly by
pressing ESC (rather than going through the F2-Menu on the
Control Panel). And, if you use a mouse, you can exit the
program from the table of contents screen by pressing ESC on
your keyboard, in addition to clicking on the contents panel.
--You can change the program
display colors (selection #3
on the F2-Menu), but be aware
that the graphics were designed
to blend into the default
background. (The graphic on
page one was "blended." The
one to the right is not.)
--If you run Windows, you can launch the program from within
Windows by starting a new program group or adding the program
to an existing group. If you create its own PIF file, the
program will run within its own window, but the graphics may
execute more slowly. (If new program groups and PIF files
are not your cup of tea, clicking on the DOS icon will take
you to the C:\> prompt, where changing to the directory that
contains the program files and then "lcl" will start the
program.)
--You can print out the page or chapter you are reading by
selecting #2 on the F2-Menu. But make sure your printer is
ON and ready before doing so.
Finally, if you have not done so, you might wish to take a
quick look at the summary of program commands on the F1-Help
screen, and also at the options on the F2-Menu.
