  16. eliminate  the  tapeworm, it  drives 
  17. out the urine.  It is  good  against 
  18. snake  bite   with  wine,  or   when 
  19. crushed in wine.  It is good against 
  20. the bite of  a  rabid dog.  It makes 
  21. the voice clear,  soothes continuous 
  22. coughing, when  eaten raw or boiled.  
  23. Boiled with  oregano, it  kills lice 
  24. and   bedbugs.    It    clears   the 
  25. arteries.    Burnt  and  mixed  with 
  26.

  30. herpetic   eruptions,   liver   spots, 
  31. leprosy and  scurvy.  Boiled with pine

  35. a  sitzbath  to  help  the  coming  of 
  36. menstruation  and  placenta.   It   is 
  37. helpful in dropsy.

  42. plant  had  its  own sign.  (Astrology 
  43. was  the  rage  when   this  book  was 
  44. written!)   It  was  thought  that the 
  45. appearance  of  a  plant,  considering 
  46. its color, scent or  habitat indicated 
  47. the disease  for which  it  provided a 
  48. cure.   In  spite of these odd notions
