Welcome to Master Chef!
Master Chef is a master at managing the most common kitchen chores:
maintaing recipe files, diet planning, meal planning and
scheduling, deciding what to fix for the coming weeks or months, and
generating the shopping list for the trip to the stores.
Master Chef integrates into one program all major functions. Each
function has been designed to not only be easy to use within a very
powerful and intuitive mouse drive "windowed" user interface, but
work together to automate the recipe management, kitchen meal and
diet planning, and shopping activies.
For a complete description of Master Chef and its major features and
requirements, see the file called DESCRIBE.DOC.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE:
Master Chef CANNOT be run directly from the distribution disk. You must
use the installation program to properly place the files on your disk
for operation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Step 1 - Run the INSTALL program
For details on running the install program, see the INSTALL.DOC
file on the distribution disk.
NOTE:
See the file PACKING.LST for a complete inventory of all the files
that you should have. If you do not have PACKING.LST or all of the
files in it, then you have a BROKEN COPY and should contact the
author (Thomas C. Johnson 9920 S. Palmer Rd. New Carlisle, Oh. 45344)
for a CLEAN copy.
Step 2 - Start Master Chef
To start the Master Chef program, type
MC <CR>
Step 3 - Read the Online Introduction to Master Chef
(You've got to read something sometime!)
Press the F1 key, then RETURN to read the Getting Started help
screens to get you oriented. Then you should browse through the
other parts of the help available from the Table Of Contents.
Step 4 - Read the Documentation!
You may either use your favorite file viewer, or print the documents to
your printer. Start with the Master Chef Reference (the file called
MCREF.DOC). To print the file, just type
PRINT MCREF.DOC <CR>
from within the directory that the file is in. If you don't like the
print command, then just copy the file to the printer with:
COPY MCREF.DOC PRN <CR>
If you accepted the default installation directories during installation,
the documentation will be be in the \MCR1\DOC subdirectory,
otherwise, it will be in whatever directory you specified for the
documentation.
If you get a chance, please look at REVIEW.DOC and answer the
questions in it. Your feedback concerning this product is most
valueable, even if you don't decide to register. It would also be
helpful if you could also fill out the SYSINFO.DOC form and describe
the computer system on which you are using Master Chef.
If you run into problems, make sure you read the file GETHELP.DOC. It
describes how to describe the problem you might have and gives you
an idea of what information we need in order to determine the
problem. It also gives information on where to write or call to get
help.
Step 5 - Enjoy!
Step 6 - Register!
See REGISTER.DOC for information on how to register and the benefits
received from registering.
NOTE:
The MCREF.DOC file on the disk refers to two programs that are not
included in the unregistered distribution copy, the NDB Utility and
the Convert programs. The documentation for those programs are
included to give you a good feel for what they are like before you
register. The programs are included in the package registered users
receive.
