  2. Printer Driver Database

  4.         It is not recommend that you alter the existing drivers unless
  5. you know what you are doing. If you do know what you are doing and you
  6. create a driver for a printer that I do not have listed, do me a BIG
  7. favor and send me a copy of your new PRINTER.DAT file.  Yes, that's
  8. where the drivers are stored.

  10.         The Printer Driver Database is accessed from the Utilities Menu.
  11. It is included so that if the supplied printer drivers do not work for
  12. you, you can modify them and/or create your own.  To use this feature,
  13. you need to have your printer's manual handy and have a knowledge of how
  14. to use printer codes. The program does have some help screens, but due
  15. to the nature of the material it might be very confusing to the novice
  16. computerist.

  18.         The two most common limitations are not being able to print the
  19. maximum number of characters per line and not supporting 20 CPI mode
  20. (characters per inch).  Most IBM printer code sets do not support 20
  21. CPI. Most Epson codes do support this mode.

  23.         I tried to include as many drivers as I could with the program.
  24. However, because my access to various printers and manuals is limited,
  25. there are probably many printers that are not supported.  If you would
  26. like me to add a printer driver, contact me.  I will need to know what
  27. printer it is and will need to obtain a copy of the printer's control
  28. codes.  You will probably have to supply me with this information.

  30.         Note:  The Printer Driver Database is an external program named
  31. PRINTER.EXE.  It can be run directly from DOS.
