  18.                            PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

  21.    CHORDMASTER is a unique chord chemistry and sequencing tool designed
  22.    specifically for guitarists.  Though it was created with guitarists
  23.    in mind, the concepts explored can be applied to a variety of musical
  24.    instruments.  CHORDMASTER is designed to be an educational aid and
  25.    reference, useful for a variety of educational and compositional
  26.    purposes.

  28.    At its heart, CHORDMASTER is a Chord Chemistry Engine that can present,
  29.    display, identify and resolve chords for the user.  This new version
  30.    introduces a conceptual departure in the computer music world - a music
  31.    sequencer that combines traditional guitar tablature with fingering,
  32.    timing and tuning information that works with MIDI or sound cards.   
  33.    A special demo mode shows the user the unique capabilities of this 
  34.    program; and context-sensitive help is available at all times.

  36.    Tracks come ALIVE using this program!  The user sees the fingering of 
  37.    the piece in real-time as it is played.  Controls are provided (as in 
  38.    a typical sequencer) to set tempo, tuning, position and more.  When you  
  39.    consider that you can also print songs, CHORDMASTER becomes a jamming 
  40.    partner, music teacher; and a great way to exchange music!

  42.    How are stringed instruments like the guitar handled differently in a
  43.    sequencing application?  A guitarist can use many different fingerings
  44.    and positions to play a piece (some easier than others!), with a variety
  45.    of timbral differences.

  47.    The True Power of "AXE" Files - Finally, a way for guitarists to 
  48.    exchange and store music!  The "AXE" file stores the fingering, timing, 
  49.    tuning, and patch information created in the "Tab View" Sequencer/Editor.  
  50.    CHORDMASTER comes with several AXE files, featuring many popular rock, 
  51.    pop, and classical guitar pieces.  Additional AXE files are available 
  52.    by contacting the author.

  55.    (.MID) Type I files!  Multiple tracks can be created in CHORDMASTER,
  56.    exported in the MIDI format, and merged into your favorite standard MIDI
  57.    sequencer!  Why deal with guitar (or any other tracks!) in a keyboard
  58.    based sequencer if your more comfortable with a guitar fretboard?

  80.    of fret and string numbers to enter songs in tablature!  The "Point and 
  81.    Shoot" editor makes song entry as easy as using your mouse!  Just point

  83.    the fret, string and note length, while the right button advances you 
  84.    through the song.  Whole chords can even be pasted from CHORDMASTER's 
  85.    chord "DISPLAY" mode!  The "Tab View Editor" even supports "block" 
  86.    editing operations; repeated sections can be copied to the clipboard 
  87.    and pasted in new areas, to speed your work!  The "Point and Shoot"
