  3. Welcome to the Encyclopedia of Graphics File Formats CD-ROM.  
  4. There are two main directories or folders: formats and software.
  5.

  7. formats

  9. This contains all the information we've been able to pull 
  10. together for each of the graphics file formats described in 
  11. the book.  When available from the vendors, we've included 
  12. the official specification documents (in "spec").  We've also 
  13. tried to include code examples (in "code") and test images 
  14. for the format (in "image").

  17. software
  18.  
  19. This contains a variety of contributed software that will
  20. allow you to view, convert, and otherwise manipulate files 
  21. in different formats.  We've included software for various 
  22. platforms:

  24. *  "dos" contains MS-DOS programs.
  25.  
  26. *  "windows" contains Windows programs.
  27.  
  28. *  "os2" contains OS/2 programs.
  29.  
  30. *  "unix" contains UNIX programs.
  31.  
  32. *  "mac" contains Macintosh programs.
