- PERTH MAN'S CLAIMS ADD TO THE MYSTERY 21/02/96
- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- Source: Evening Telegraph (Dundee)
- Date: February 21, 1996.
-
- A Perth man was intrigued when he spotted something "very odd" in the skies
- above McDiarmid Park last week.
-
- His report today adds to the list of mystery objects spotted recently.
-
- Duncan McCowan (71), Nimmo Place, was looking out of his window during last
- Tuesday's St. Johnstone v. Dundee match at around 8pm he noticed a big yellow
- "star" above McDiarmid Park which he described as something "very, very,
- unusual."
-
- He discounted the possibility that it might have been a low-flying aircraft or
- a balloon although he is very anxious to find out what it was.
-
- "I noted the position of the object against a building in the foreground and
- then went away from the window.
-
- "When I looked a second time it had moved to the right and was hovering. When
- I looked back out a third time it had moved back and looked smaller."
-
- Mr McCowan, who worked for 50 years with the Hydro Board and is now retired,
- said, "Whatever it was, it was very unusual."
-
- He said, "It was too low down to be a star and it looked very large compared
- with the others that night."
-
- Although Mr McCowan was bweildred by the "very, very odd" object but did not
- report his sighting until this morning after he read about other recent
- encounters with unidentified objects in the tayside skies.
-
- He recalls that visibility that night was fairly good and he watched the
- yellow-coloured object for around 4 or five minutes in total.
