- Date: February 22, 1996
-
- THE RAF has dismissed a Scarborough man's claim that he saw a UFO.
-
- Steve Larkin of Shirecroft, Eastfield, was looking out for a comet when he
- swears he saw a spaceship fly over Oliver's Mount.
-
- He says he caught sight of an object in his telescope which was over 100ft
- long, covered in lights and flew over the Mount flanked by two other flying
- objects.
-
- He said: "I thought it would have to be a Lancaster bomber to be so big but it
- was a UFO or spaceship."
-
- A spokesman from RAF Flyingdales said: "If he could estimate the length and see
- it flying that low it was definately not a spaceship.
-
- "The likely esplination is it was a fuel tanker which is large and has several
- lights visible when it is refuelling other craft."
