- A few people wanted me to keep them posted on the FOIA requests I
- recently discussed, so I'll just periodically make a post like this
- whenever I get any info.
-
- Today I got a call from the Defense Technical Information Center, and I
- was told that the office would send me a bibliography of their search
- results, most entries of which would contain abstracts of some sort.
- That way I could select the reports I wanted and skip the ones where UFOs
- are only peripherally mentioned, thus saving time and money. I got the
- impression that there may be a good amount of information.
-
- In the mail today I got several letters. The Office of Naval Research,
- 21st Space Wing of USAF Spacecom, and Air Force Materiel Command (that's
- the correct spelling of 'materiel') said they had no documents responsive
- to my request. I find this somewhat dubious, considering the fact that
- it seems unlikely that over several decades, these agencies never had
- "UFO" mentioned in any documents. Remember, they do computer searches on
- all their archived documents, so it's not like they have somebody rifle
- through dusty boxes or anything. I'll see if I can talk to them Monday.
-
- The Materiel Command, or AFMC, was pretty funny. They told me that all
- their UFO information was in the National Archives. That's obviously
- hogwash, because they seem to think that I'm requesting something having
- to do with Bluebook, which I'm not (since Bluebook was at WPAFB along
- side AFMC). Any documents they have on UFOs should be on the premises
- like any agency. They also sent me the same "UFO Fact Sheet", quite a
- misnomer, that was posted here last month and which I demolished with
- their own data. They cite the conclusions of the Condon Report, but
- apparently they forget that many people have read the Condon Report and
- understand that the conclusions of Dr. Condon ignored the conclusions of
- his subcommittees that provided strong evidence. Also, they denied
- having any alien bodies and debris, even though I didn't even ask them if
- they had any.
-
- I also called the US Space Command for the hell of it, since I was
- looking forward to their info the most. It turns out that I sent it to
- an office that doesn't deal with FOIA, but the letter was forwarded to
- the right place. The person I spoke with said I'd hear from them next
- week sometime, but he warned me that the material I requested would not
- be subject to release under FOIA because of a higher classification.
- I'll also have to see about that, and I'll see if it complies with
- Clinton's executive order in 1992 or 1993 or so for mandatory
- classification review.
-
- I'm still waiting to hear from a bunch of other places, so next week will
- be interesting. More to follow.
