  20.      I just read an article in the june issue of popular mechanics,
  21. about the seti project (search for extra terrestrial intelligence).
  22. It gives some history of the project, and specs on the latest bit of
  23. hardware - 250 million channels!
  24.      Now the cool part.  due to lack of government funding, they are
  25. also trying a volunteer project.  call 1-800-828-7384 they will
  26. provide info to build a radiotelescope some details shown inthe
  27. article supposedly the system can be built for about $300. many of us
  28. probably already have most of the setup (antenna, -article show a
  29. modified satellite dish-, 1.42ghz tol. 66ghzreceiver or downverter,
  30. preamp-looks homemade--, and 486 computer with soundblaster)
  31.      Once setup, they will supposedly assign a section of sky for you
  32. to scan they are calling this project argus
