- The Buffalo News today printed an Associated Press story by Rayner
- Pike spotlighting Mrs. Clinton's adviser, Jean Houston. The gist of
- the article deals with Ms. Houston's attempt to clarify what really
- went on with the "exercise" that she and Mrs. Clinton were involved in
- with regard to what Bob Woodward claims were seance-type conversations
- with the deceased Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt: "It was an exercise that is
- done in many business corporations," she said of the role-playing.
- "You imagine somebody that you'd like to talk to, and you focus your
- ideas. That is all." Ms. Houston apparently holds a doctorate in
- philosophy of religion from Columbia and has lectured at Harvard,
- according to the article.
-
- Now, that's not the part of the article that caught my attention.
- This is:
-
- "In the early 1960s, Ms. Houston did government-sponsored
- research on LSD but dismisses suggestions that she embraced it as a
- consciousness-raising drug. 'We were trying to get kids off of
- drugs,' she said."
-
- And I said, "WHAAAAA???????"
-
- ?WHAT? early 1960s government-sponsored research on LSD????? The
- first lady has an adviser who takes her through mental exercises and
- that advisor was involved in "government-sponsored research on LSD" in
- the 1960's????!!!!!!! And excuse me, but...what is a doctorate of
- religious philosophy doing with regard to government-sponsored
- research on LSD?
-
- Help me out here, please...but wasn't the MKULTRA stuff going on in
- the 1960s?
-
- What's wrong with this picture?
