  35. Yes, it would take more than 4.5 years to reach AC.
  36. But, not from the point of view of the ship.

  38. You accelerate to 3/4 lightspeed, everything onboard the ship
  39. slows down and gets heavier, that's what makes it impossible
  40. to accelerate to lightspeed in the first place.  The point is,
  41. however, that if you've been slowed down, (Time dilation)
  42. it looks to you as if the universe outside has sped up.
  43. So the ten year journey across 4.5 light years, from the
  44. ship's point of view, only takes a month.  Or whatever.

  46. You have to go damn fast to get this effect to be noticable,
  47. but it has been experimentally verified.
