- is used in day-to-day operation of your system.

- The IRIX Interactive Desktop has two parts: the Base package
- and the Execution package. The Execution package depends
- upon the Base software, described in the IRIX Interactive
- Desktop Release Notes (Base Package) for the ddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp____bbbbaaaasssseeee
- product. These release notes are for the Execution package.
-
- The ddddeeeesssskkkkttttoooopppp____ttttoooooooollllssss product contains a set of related desktop
- applications including IconSmith, Jot, and the GL
- screensavers. For more information, see the separate
- Desktop Tools release notes.
-
- The 4D Window Manager, which accompanies and is tightly
- integrated with the IRIX Interactive Desktop environment, is
- packaged in a separate product called 4444DDDDwwwwmmmm and has its own
- release notes. 4Dwm provides a feature called sssseeeessssssssiiiioooonnnn
- mmmmaaaannnnaaaaggggeeeemmmmeeeennnntttt, which allows your screen setup to be saved
- during one login session and restored at the next login
- session. In its default configuration, 4Dwm will attempt to
- save command lines for windows that are on your display when
- you log out. Then, when you log in again, 4Dwm will execute
- these commands, thus restoring your session as closely as it
- can. Session management is described in the 4Dwm release
- notes. 4Dwm also provides bbbbaaaacccckkkkggggrrrroooouuuunnnndddd mmmmaaaannnnaaaaggggeeeemmmmeeeennnntttt, which
- allows the placement of file and device icons on the
- background and also maintains a different background in each
- desk.
-
- The IRIX Interactive Desktop Execution package includes the
- following components:
-
- The ffffiiiilllleeee mmmmaaaannnnaaaaggggeeeerrrr provides visual facilities for you to
- execute, manipulate, and manage files and other
- objects on your system, on a Web site, or on an ftp
- site. Features include drag-and-drop icons on the
- background, active device icons, and icons for remote
- Web or ftp files. If the desktop is enabled (it is
- by default), then the file manager will run
- automatically when you log in. If it is not running,
- the file manager can be invoked from the Desktop
- toolchest by selecting the Access Files entry, then
- In my Home Directory. For further information about
- enabling or disabling the desktop, see the section on

- catalog can also be invoked from the command line.
