  8. This file is provided strictly as additional information.  It is not 
  9. intended to replace the installation notes or any other PV-WAVE 
  10. documentation.

  12. The Installation and Unlocking Process
  13. --------------------------------------
  14.  
  15. A document called the "PV-WAVE Command Language Version 4.0
  16. Installation Guide: UNIX", or the "PV-WAVE Command Language
  17. Version 4.0 Installation Guide:  VMS", has been included in
  18. the materials provided with your PV-WAVE software.  This document
  19. should be used when performing an installation and should be
  20. read to thoroughly understand the installation process.

  22. A script called wvinstall (WVINSTALL.COM for DEC VAX VMS) is
  23. provided on the distribution tape to perform the installation.
  24. This script must first be read off the tape and is then used
  25. to install PV-WAVE.  The installer is required to make several
  26. selections from the installation menu.  The menu will appear
  27. with the default responses selected.

  29. A document called the "Unlocking Your Precision Visuals Software"
  30. has also been included.  This document should be used when
  31. unlocking PV-WAVE and should be read to thoroughly understand the
  32. validation process.

  34. After running the wvinstall script (WVINSTALL.COM) it is necessary
  35. to run the validation program to unlock the software.  This is
  36. accomplished by typing PVI_ENTER_SOFTKEY from the main license
  37. directory.  The validation program will ask the installer to provide
  38. a softkey.  This softkey is included on the SOFTKEY NOTIFICATION
  39. FORM provided with your software distribution.

  41. Once the validation program has been run PV-WAVE is ready to be used.  
  42. If problems occur during the installation, you should refer to the 
  43. section in the Installation Guide called "Troubleshooting Installation
  44. Problems".  If problems occur during the unlocking, you should refer
  45. to the section in the Unlocking Guide called "Troubleshooting".

  48. The Release_Notes, Update_Notice and Tips files
  49. -----------------------------------------------

  51. The file Release_Notes contains a summary of technical changes that
  52. make PV-WAVE CL Version 4.00 different from previous versions.
  53.  
  54. The file Update_Notice contains a more detailed list of bugs that
  55. have been fixed in PV-WAVE CL Version 4.00 and enhancements that
  56. have been added to this version.

  58. The file Tips contains a list of tips and technical notes which includes
  59. known problems, work-arounds, suggestions for setting up your operating
  60. environment and general reminders.
