Customizing Favorites and System Folders

Folder Favorites

The Favorite Folders menu can be customized to support all the folders that you often access.  The current folder displayed in the current tab of the active file panel can be added and the contents of the menu can be customized to support user defined names, changing of the order of the folders, and adding of separators.  Clicking on the toolbar button displays a menu containg several commands and a list of your favorite folders.  The following menu commands are available:

Add current folder

The Add Current Folder command will append the folder currently displayed in the current tab of the active file panel to the end of the Favorites list.  The folder name (not the entire path) is used to set the name of the entry.


Customize

The Customize command is used to fully customize the Favorite button menu.  The Folder Favorites Customization dialog is displayed.  The following controls are used to customize the Favorites button menu:

Folder List

The Folder List control shows all the folders and separators that will be displayed in the Favorites menu in the order that they will be displayed.

Left click on an entry to select it before using the button controls.  Only one entry can be selected at a time.


Add

The [Add] button is used to append a new folder to the Favorite Folders list.  The Select Favorite Folder dialog is displayed.  The path of the folder can be manually typed into the edit control or you can use the [...] browse button to browse for the folder you want to add.

The Name edit control is used to supply the name that will be displayed for the folder in the Favorites Folder button menu.


Edit

The [Edit] button is used to edit the selected entry.  The same interface is used as in the [Add] button (above) except that the select entry is replaced instead of a new entry being appended to the list.

Double left clicking on an entry in the Favorite Folders list will also invoke this command.


Delete

The [Delete] button is used to remove the selected entry.  No confirmation is requested.


Separator

The [Separator] button will append a menu separator to the end of the Favorites Folder list.


Move Up

The [Move Up] button is used to control the order of the Favorites Folder list.  The selected entry is moved up by one entry.


Move Down

The [Move Up] button is used to control the order of the Favorites Folder list.  The selected entry is moved up by one entry.


System Folders

The System Folders menu can be customized to support the system folders that you often access.  The contents of the menu can be customized to support your preferemces for the folders available in the menu, changing of the order of the folders, and adding of separators.  Clicking on the toolbar button displays a menu containg several commands and a list of your system folder preferencess.  The System Folders customization dialog is displayed by selecting the Customize command from the System Folders menu.

The following controls are used to customize the System Folders button menu:

Folder List

The Folder List control shows all the folders and separators that will be displayed in the System Folders menu in the order that they will be displayed.

Left click on an entry to select it before using the button controls.  Only one entry can be selected at a time.


Add

The [Add] button is used to append a new folder to the Favorite Folders list.  A ldialog with a combox listing the available system folders is displayed.  Select the system folder you wish to add.


Edit

The [Edit] button is used to edit the selected entry.  The same interface is used as in the [Add] button (above) except that the select entry is replaced instead of a new entry being appended to the list.

Double left clicking on an entry in the System Folders list will also invoke this command.


Delete

Separator

Move Up

The [Move Up] button is used to control the order of the Favorites Folder list.  The selected entry is moved up by one entry.


Move Down

The [Move Up] button is used to control the order of the Favorites Folder list.  The selected entry is moved up by one entry.


Reset

The [Reset] button will reset the System Folders menu back to the factory default settings.
