Welcome to Chance Reschke's Personal Page!

This page is hopelessly (more than a year) out of date!

I will replace it with an updated version sometime in August 1996

Second, I've recently moved to CESDIS from the Corporate Offices in downtown Washington, D.C. Here are my new vital stats:

Lately, I've mostly been working on bringing the CESDIS computing environment up to snuff and teaching other USRA Systems Administrators more about maintaining their Unix systems on the net.

Actual PROJECTS I'VE BEEN WORKING ON are fairly few and rather quickly done. These include:

Set up ISDN Internet access and half a dozen Sparc 1's configured as Xterminals at the Frontiers'95 Conference.

Setting up T1 Internet access, the exhibitors network and the email room for the Advances in Digital Libraries '95 conference.

Using SAMBA and CAP to integrate Suns MACs and PCs into a comfortable relationship.

Setting up a distributed FreeWAIS-SF and SFgate based index of all USRA WWW resources.

Doing some other moderately interesting things with FreeWAIS-SF.

Various Linux Things including:

Porting Condor to the Beowulf Linux Workstation Cluster at CESDIS (alright, I haven't actualy started this yet, but maybe next week...)

Linux as cheap sendmail/POP servers. (Including advocating (and helping out where I can) changing the NASA HQ email system to use sendmail on U*ix to handle mail exchange with the outside world rather than the hodge-podge collection of PC/Mac SMTP gateway systems they're so fond of (this includes setting up and maintaining one very successfull Linux host handling roughly 1,000 messages/day)).
