About the Author

Guy "Bud" Tribble is vice president and chief architect of Java systems at Sun Microsystems Computer Company. He is one of the industry's noted experts in object-oriented programming and user interface design. For example, he was key architect of the NEXTSTEP operating system (as a co-founder of NeXT Computer). Prior to that, at Apple he was head of the entire Macintosh software engineering effort, including software architecture, user interface design and applications. Tribble holds a BA in biophysics and an M.D. and Ph.D. in neurophysiology.
