Day 077 - 25 Jan 95 - Page 27

       have you?
       A. Yes, I have.

  Q. I want to ask you, first of all, whether you recognise this
       or not?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. When did you first see this, do you think?
       A. Last year.

  Q. Last year. Turn to page 2, please. It says: Animal
welfare and husbandry. Summary of supplier positions".
For beef the first entry is McKey, do you see that?
       A. I do.

  Q. What I want to know is did you or your company contribute
that part of this document or not? If you would just like
to read it first to yourself?
       A. Yes, I see parts in there which I know we wrote
       originally in the McKey document.

  Q. But you did not actually write this passage?
       A. I did not write that, no.

  Q. I would like you to turn over then, please, to something
which I think is unquestionably a McKey document which is
at tab 3. Do you recognise this document?
       A. Yes, I do.

  Q. It has not got any entries in it. It is a proforma. Tell
us precisely what this document is for and who would fill
       it in?
       A. I have one employee who works on the technical side of
the business -- he is responsible to the Group Technical
Manager -- and his task in the McKey company, he is
continually on the road visiting abattoirs and boning
rooms. Every time he visits one he fills in one of these
audit forms and that then comes back and it ends up on my
       desk.

  Q. Do you read them?
       A. I do read them.

  Q. We see it is headed "McKey Food Service", I mean the
typewritten bit is headed "McKey Food Service Meat Supplier
Audit Form". Can I ask you this before we look at the
detail, how long have these forms been in existence?
       A. In this particular format, to my knowledge, about 12,
18 months, I mean, but this is just a succession of
       development of a form.

  Q. Have you always had something like this?
       A. Yes.

  Q. Did McDonald's have any input into the production of this
       form?
       A. They did, this particular form, yes.

  Q. What about the earlier ones?
       A. No, they were McKey forms.
